Ministry Philosophy

Our student ministry is a place for students to come together and engage in conversations about God, learn about life, and be a part of something bigger than themselves. Our student ministry exists to glorify God through the spiritual transformation of individual students through the power of the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Come and Worship
Students meet in our youth room for a midweek worship opportunity for students 7th-12th grade, and usually where many walk through our door for the first time. We play games, eat snacks, worship through music, and students hear a relevant message of Truth. Our Wednesday night ministry and monthly outreach events are great opportunities for both the outgoing and the more reserved teen to find a comfortable fit.

Connect and Grow
To help students connect with other believers and grow in their relationship with Christ, we have Sunday morning Bible study groups for students that meet every week at 9:30am in the youth room. We dig into God’s Word and apply it directly to ever-changing teen culture. Students and caring adults discuss parents, relationships, purpose, character building, peer pressure, dealing with crisis, friends, values, and boundaries all within the context of God’s perfect plan for their lives.

Small group Bible studies designed to equip students to go even deeper in both their relationship with Christ and their relationships with their peers are offered at various times through the year.

****Our newest small group, 10 Ultimate Truths Girls Should Know, is for girls in Grades 7-12 (and older) and will begin meeting on Sunday, October 6, 2024 from 5:00-6:00 p.m. in FLC-3.****

Serve and Go
Students are encouraged to serve by participating in local missions and mission trips. Students who volunteer locally usually perform some type of service for the community or an individual. Mission work the past two years have included trips to Nashville, Mobile, and Indianapolis, as well as at local apartment complexes and other organizations.

We want you to be a part of the blessings of God in the life of our church. We’ll bring you updates often on just what’s happening at First Baptist Church and share the stories of how Christ is making a difference in people’s lives.
